William Marion Fisher, 86, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel; burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Community of Christ Temple Fund, Independence, MO.
William was born Dec. 10, 1924 in Holden, Mo to John and Nellie Fisher. He was a WWII Army veteran where he served in the European Theatre with the 79th Division. After suffering injuries in France, he received a Purple Heart. He married LuEtta Oglevie in 1947. William graduated from CMSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. He spent his entire work career as a chemist with Swift and Company. William held the office of Elder in the Community of Christ Church. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Christine Haldiman and Thelma Brockhaus. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, LuEtta Fisher; 3 children: Philip L. (Nancy) Fisher, Douglas A. Fisher, Suzette M. Fisher; a brother, Gerald (Veona) Fisher; 8 grandchildren: James, John, Jamie, Adam, Jason, Tiffany, Megan, and Amanda; and 12 great grandchildren.
