Walter Morris Pitney, 89, of Overland Park, KS passed away Sunday, May 13, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 15th at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the chapel prior to the service. Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 16th at Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Walter was born April 12, 1918 in Liberty, MO. He worked for 25 years as a sales manager for a large meat processing company. He loved to play golf where he was president of the Senior League. Walter was an avid chess player and enjoyed traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. WC and Anna Price Pitney; and three beloved sisters, Mary, Frances, and Virginia. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Melba Pitney of the home; daughters, Julie Thompson, Daytona Beach, FL and Gwen Stueve, Lee?s Summit, MO; and son, Ron Pitney, Arlington, TX; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
