Virginia Welker, 86, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Valley View United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Heartland SPCA, 9800 W. 67th St, Shawnee, KS 66203.
Ginny was born Jan. 13, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN to Walter and Alice Lundquist. She graduated from Washburn High School in 1944, and later attended the University of Minnesota. Ginny married Waite Welker on Dec. 19, 1947. She was an active member of the Valley View United Methodist Church, and volunteered for the American Heart Assn. and the American Cancer Society. Ginny was preceded in death by her sister, Bette Dunham; her grandson, Zach Willis. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Waite Welker; three children: Stephanie Willis, Whit Welker, and Tootie Welker; 1 granddaughter, Kate Willis; two great grandchildren: Reese Willis and Kane See; and a brother, John Lundquist.
