Virginia Miles

Virginia Ann Miles, age 77, Overland Park, KS, passed away November 12, 2007. Graveside services will be 11:00 Saturday, November 17, at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. Visitation will be Friday, November 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at D. W. Newcomers Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Memorial Contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation or charity of your choice.
Virginia was a graduate of Central Business College in Kansas City, MO. After graduating, she worked for several area businesses, including Hallmark, Ford Motor Co., and the athletic department at the University of Kansas under Athletic Director A. C. ?Dutch? Lonborg. After marrying Charles Miles and giving birth to two sons, Virginia devoted her time to being a wife and mother. As her sons entered school, she became actively involved in the Shawnee Mission School District PTA, eventually serving as president of the PTA at Santa Fe Trail Elementary School and Shawnee Mission North High School. She served on the Shawnee Mission Area Council for 12 years, and was presented with an honorary life membership in the PTA of the state of Kansas. Later in her life, she was a member of Ideal Homemakers Home Extension Unit of Johnson County.
Virginia was born on April 18, 1930, in Troy, KS. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles D. Miles, and two sons, David B. Miles and William S. Miles. She is also survived by her brother, Leroy H. Sandy, one grandson, Anthony Miles, and numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be missed by all who knew her.
