Tom E. Smith, 87, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on August 12, 2014.
He was born on December 30, 1926 to Tom and Thelma Smith in St. Louis, MO.
Tom was a World War II Army Veteran. He later went on to graduate from UMKC.
He worked for PBI Gordon Chemical Company for 38 years before retiring. He spent more than 40 years as a member of a model railroad club; the most recent was Kansas City Northern Railroad at Line Creek Park.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Rosemary Smith, father Tom Smith, mother Thelma Smith and his brother George Smith.
He is survived by his son Thomas E. Smith III; Daughter, Lisbeth M. Thornton; one granddaughter and three great grandchildren; two nephews and one niece and many extended family members. He was loved and will be missed.
Family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8PM on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66203. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Queen of the Holy Rosary 7023 W. 71st, Shawnee Mission, KS 66204. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, 701 N. Engineer, Sedalia, MO 65301
