Tae Wook Park, 75, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on June 29, 2010 at home.
Mr. Park was born on October 3, 1934 in Pyongyang, Korea. He married his wife, He Joo, on November 5, 1963 in Seoul Korea. They have five children. He was a policeman for 5 years before he and his wife started their own tailor shop in Seoul, Korea. In September of 1981, he and his family came to Overland Park, Kansas to start a new life. He worked for H. D. Lee Company for 7 years before he and his wife owned and operated an alteration shop, Maxine’s Alteration, in Overland Park.
He was active in the Korean Catholic Community of Kansas in Lenexa and served as a president from 1984 to 1985. As a liver transplant recipient, he had full appreciation for life. He retired in 2004 and enjoyed playing golf, walking, reading, traveling and playing with his grandchildren. Tae is survived by his wife of 47 years, He Joo Park and their five children Teresa Park (Moon), Anna Keena (Jeff ), Jung , Ralph, and Thomas(Michele). He has beloved seven grandchildren, Nicole Keena, Courtney Keena, Mathew Pak, Andrew Park, Joshua Park, Ashley Park, and David Park.
The visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday July 2 at D.W. Newcomer’s sons, 8201 Metcalf Overland Park, KS 66204. Funeral service will be held at 9 am on Saturday July 3, 2010 at the Church of The Holy Cross, 8311 W. 93rd st Overland Park, KS 66212. The burial service will be held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetries, 8300 Quivira Road, Lenexa, KS 66215.
