Colleen was born August 21, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri; the only child of Florence Helen (McClure) and Byron Shackleford Arbuckle. She attended Southwest and Paseo High Schools and graduated in 1946. She worked and served as the Secretary-Treasurer for her family-owned Arbuckle Sign Company until her marriage to Frederick Henry Kuchem, Jr. on June 17, 1950. After raising three children, Colleen went back to school and received her certification as a Montessori school teacher in the early 70’s. She was an active volunteer for several organizations throughout her adult life, and was co-founder of the Marillac Auxillary in 1982; a support and fundraising arm of the Marillac Center for Children. She worked and served this organization for over 26 years with many of her dearest friends who are all known as “the Little Store Ladies”. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, was extremely patriotic, and delighted in keeping her home a showplace.

A deeply spiritual woman; Colleen was a member and Keeper of the Flame of the Church Universal and Triumphant of Montana, for over 35 years. She loved to travel and attended church conferences all over the country, as well as Summit University in Montana in 1992.

She is survived by her husband Fred, her son and daughter-in-law: Christopher L. and Patricia Kuchem of Stillwell, her two grandchildren: Justin and Christin Kuchem of Stillwell, and Overland Park, her daughters and son-in-law: Lorie and Brent Bowman of Leawood, and Stephanie M.
