Shirley began a 55 year journey with the love of her life on January 28, 1952 when she was united in marriage with Burton Gordon. Shirley and Burton traveled the world, making their home in such places as New Delhi India, Washington D.C. and Juneau, Alaska. She was most proud of her family. Her influence on them was expressed in values of love, understanding and acceptance of others, which she passed onto her children and grandchildren.
Shirley became passionately involved with the Cross-Lines Community Outreach Christmas Store program where she worked for countless years. Her other loves included painting, quilting, toy making and bowling.
Shirley is survived by her husband Burton Gordon, her four children Mark Gordon of Springfield, Missouri, Dan Gordon of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Bill Gordon of Overland Park, Kansas and Karen Cook of Bucyrus, Kansas. She was also survived by nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family is profoundly grateful to Burton for the loving care he provided to Shirley during a long and difficult illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer?s Association or Knox Presbyterian Church.
