Sharon Jean Duncan, 64, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011. A memorial service will be held at a later date in McCook, NE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Assn.
Sharon was born Dec. 19, 1946 in Holdredge, NE to Harold and Ena Nokes. She graduated from McCook High School, later attended McCook Junior College, and graduated from Kearney State College with a Bachelors of Education in home economics. She married Bill Ignowski June 1970 and then resided in Ord, NE until 1979, and then resided in the Wichita, KS area with her three children. She worked at various facilities as a drug and alcohol counselor for most of her life. Sharon moved to Kansas City, KS in 1996 and has lived there ever since. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Helen & Ted Ambler, and Notie & Earl Nokes; an infant brother; and a first cousin. Survivors include her three children: Amy K. Ignowski, Audrey A Ignowski, and Adam M. Ignowski and his wife and their two children; a brother, Leslie Allen Nokes and his two sons; an aunt, L’Marie Robertson; and other numerous family members and friends.
