Scott Eric Blackford, 52, of Overland Park, Kansas died Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at home from a short battle with Cancer. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 8th at the Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, Kansas. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 P.M., Sunday, January 7th at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Scott Blackford Memorial Fund, c/o Country Club Bank, Attn: Mary Watkins, 9400 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66206. (For his daughters continuing education.)

Scott was born December 14, 1954 in Whittier, California. Scott moved to Kansas City in 1966. He attended Kansas State University, where he met his beloved wife, and received a degree in architecture. Scott married his wife Kathy in 1983 and bought a house in the neighborhood where he was raised. He practiced architecture at Gould Evans Goodman Associates until his untimely death. The family enjoyed extensive traveling both in and out of the United States. On these trips the family enjoyed snorkeling, diving, hiking, camping, fishing, and sightseeing. Outside of the U.S. they enjoyed a trip to Europe, China, and multiple trips to Mexico and the Caribbean. Scott was a very devoted K-State Wildcat and Chiefs fan. He was preceded in death by his father, William C. Blackford. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Blackford; his daughters, Brittany and Erica; his mother, Penny Blackford; his step mother, Alice Blackford; his brother, Steve Blackford and his wife Connie and their children, Austin and Amber; and his brother Mark Blackford.
