Ruth Elizabeth (Ritchey) Long, 90, of Kansas City, KS passed away on Monday, December 3, 2007 at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa, KS. Cremation. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Herod Cemetery in Desloge, MO. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, Memorial Program, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.
Ruth was born on November 7, 1917 in Maplewood, MO. She was the daughter of Roy Earl and Elizabeth Susan Ritchey. She lived in Desloge, MO, while she raised her children and moved to Kansas City in 1992. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Earl Willis Ritchey, Dorothy Celest Fitzgerald, Roy Welch Ritchey and Mary Alice (Lolly) Parres; her husbands, Joseph Henry Long and Raymond Meyer Brown; her children, Joseph John Long, Danny Thomas Long, and Robert Dennis Brown. Ruth is survived by her children, Michael Ray Long, Sr., Parkhills, MO, James Edward and Janet Kay Long, Antelope, CA, Ray Wayne and Anita Brown, Sacramento, CA, and Mary Ellen (Brown) and Charlie Casby, Sr., Lenexa, KS; siblings, Marion Leola McClure, Martin Leslie (Buddy) and Erna Jean Ritchey, Helen Delores (Dode) Riney and Thomas Warren Ritchey; 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and many friends at Rosedale Towers in Kansas City, KS. Ruth was loved by everyone she met, because she was a loving, outgoing person. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, a great friend and a good Christian lady. We were blessed to have known her and to have had her with us for so many years.
