Mrs. Ruth Gradert
October 20, 1925 — September 5, 2014
Ruth M. (Wilms) Gradert, 88, went to be with our Lord on Friday, September 5th at Sweet Life, Overland Park, KS.
Ruth was born October 20th, 1925 to Rev Elmer and Florence Wilms in Kress, Texas. They moved to Newton, KS in 1941 where she met Vic Gradert.
After World War II, Ruth and Vic married and moved to Wichita, KS. They resided there for the majority of their lives.
Ruth held numerous positions in Lioness Club and was a very active member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML).
She was an excellent wife, mother and homemaker. Ruth loved to travel and play bridge.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her baby sister Dorothy in 1940 and one nephew, Richard.
She is survived by her loving husband, Vic, of 68 years, two daughters, Donna Eakins of Topeka, and Karen Doel (Keith) of Lenexa, two grandchildren, Katherine and Brian, brother Norman Wilms (Clarene) from Topeka and nephews and their families.
Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 9101 Lamar Ave, Overland Park, KS 66207. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the church.
