RUEL "SHORTY" SQUIBB

Ruel Squibb, age 92, Lenexa, Kan., died April 24, 2010, at home. Memorial services 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at Unity Temple, Kansas City. Burial will be later in Brookline Cemetery near Springfield, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to Crosslines of Springfield, 1710 Chestnut, Springfield, MO 65802. Ruel was born September 19, 1917, near Republic, Mo. He lived in or near Springfield, Mo., until declining health caused him and his wife to move nearer their daughter in Lenexa. He was a retired Springfield letter carrier and a member of Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and the First Universalist Unitarian Church of Springfield. He devoted thousands of volunteer hours delivering Meals on Wheels and working at Crosslines of Springfield. Ruel was preceded in death by his parents and older brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife of almost 70 years, Lois N. Squibb of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Charles J. and Carolyn Skelton of Lenexa, Kan.; his grandson's family, Tom and Rene Skelton, and their children Michael and Kyle of Lenexa; his granddaughter's family, Todd and Charlotte Goldberg, and their children Chloe and Truman of Chicago, Ill., and his niece Jeanette Young of Clever, Mo.
