Mrs. Ruby Schanze

Ruby Fern Schanze, Overland Park, KS died suddenly on April 2, 2009 at the age of 82. Ruby was born on November 24, 1926 in Kansas City, MO to William and Daisy Lewis.
Ruby lived most of her adult life in San Diego, and was widowed in 2001. She then moved herself (and her two schnauzers) back to Kansas City to be near family. There she attended a high school reunion, meeting an old classmate. Soon they were inseparable and married one year later. They found love at a time when most people have given up hope… and were rewarded with many wonderful, loving years together.
Ruby is survived by her husband Gus Schanze and two brothers, Homer and Johnnie Lewis. She had 4 children Jerry (Dianne) Keith, Sharon (Bob) Peine, David Keith, and Cory Crowell; and 4 step-children Kathy (Rob) Jonas, Melissa Schanze, Lynn (Dave) Poplin, and Mark Schanze; 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at D.W. Newcomers, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS on Tuesday, April 7 at 2 pm followed by a memorial service at 3 pm.
