Rollin Yoder

Rollin Joseph Yoder, 88, of Lenexa, KS passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Lakeview Village. Rollin was born October 19, 1919 to Charles D. and Susanna Heatwole Yoder in Windom, KS. He was the ninth of ten children.
As a young man he attended Hesston Academy and then moved to Alberta, Canada, where he lived for 22 years; farming and clearing land for his family and others, pastoring a mission church and starting a family. He moved to Hesston, KS in 1959 and to Kansas City, MO in 1970, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He worked in sales and marketing in the RV Industry, as well as becoming a branch manager for the Kansas City office of Industrial Chemicals Co. Following his retirement he became a resident at Lakeview Village. His hobby was involving himself in construction projects that would benefit others. He had a knack for finding the humor in life and his generous spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rollin was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings and an infant daughter, Sharon Lee Yoder. He is survived by his wife of 37 years , Esther Yoder of Lenexa, KS. He was father and step-father to five children, Clifford and Mary Yoder, Tulsa, OK, Jerry and Lorraine Miller of Kansas City, MO, Yvonne and Gerry Sieber, Hesston, KS, Sharon and John Cox of Shawnee, KS, Shirley and Byron Oberst of Bend, Oregon; 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and a host of extended family.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 8 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00-12:00, prior to the service. Burial in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association.
