Roberta Coldsnow died peacefully on April 14, 2012, as a result of a stroke. Her friends and family were able to spend quiet hours with her in her last days playing music and reading poetry in the comfort of Kansas City Hospice House. Born August 29, 1928, Roberta was a lifelong resident of Brookside and an active student at Paseo High School. She graduated in 1945. Even then, her peers noted her love of art, music and theater, and she was still tapping out a beat at a coffeehouse concert weeks before her death. Roberta was the daughter of Edna and Lambert Coldsnow, and she cared for her mother until Edna's death in 1991 and for her brother, Keith, until his death in 2009. When Union Station was a busy railroad terminal, Roberta and her mother worked for Travelers Aid there. For many years she was the bookkeeper for Keith Coldsnow Art Supplies, owned by her brother Keith. Besides her devotion to family and friends, Roberta loved children. She volunteered at The Children's Place, and she cherished a photograph of herself with a small boy with whom she was clearly pleased to spend time. Her generosity was clear to all who knew her. Roberta's sense of humor and ready smile will be remembered by many, including trusted family friend Burton Justice, cousins from the Kansas City area and elsewhere, and many friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 21st, 11:00-12:30 PM, Forest Hill Chapel, with graveside services to follow at 12:30 PM, at Forest Hill Cemetery, 6901 Troost Ave., Kansas City MO. In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W. 75th St, Prairie Village, KS 66208 or The Children's Place, 2 East 59th St., Kansas City, MO 64113.
