Bob was born on October 12, 1927 in Morrilton, Arkansas. He grew up during the depression and that experience instilled in him an ethic of hard work, fair play and honesty. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mabel Little.
In 1937, Bob and his family moved to Conway Springs, KS, where he attended school. Bob left home at 13 years of age to make his way in the world while he attended high school. One of his jobs was a farm hand on the Lewis farm in Ewell, KS. It was there that he met and courted his high school sweetheart, Carol Lewis. They married in 1947 and had 2 sons. As part of the occupation forces in Europe, Bob was a member of the U.S. Army Signal Corps and was stationed in Salzburg, Austria from 1952-54.
Bob worked for Cities Service Oil from 1948 -1966 and Dow Chemical from 1966 until his retirement in 1991. For those that worked with and knew Bob, he was a respected businessman who was known for his keen business sense and integrity. Bob traveled for work and pleasure and he and Carol visited many places in the U.S. and Europe. Also, they traveled to Kenya and, as a result of that visit, provided support to a women?s group on the shores of Lake Victoria; the group sings their praises, literally, to this day.
Bob and Carol enjoyed their retirement years and spent their winters with friends and family in Sun City, Arizona. Bob was an avid golfer who shared his passion for the game with his family. For Bob, a day on the golf course with his grandsons and friends was a day well spent, unless he found himself in the rough.
Bob cared deeply for his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him. People sought and valued his advice and he had a way of weaving colorful Arkansas sayings into his reflections on everyday life.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol, of the home; two sons, Dan Little and his wife Roby, of Lee?s Summit, MO, and David Little and his wife Jennifer, of East Africa; four grandchildren, Blake, Taylor, Katie and Danny; a great-granddaughter, Scarlett; a sister, MaeDean Cochran, of Wichita, KS, and; nieces and nephews who knew him as the authority on poker.
