Robert Lee Goodrick, of Kansas City, MO., passed away January 10, 2007 at the home after a determined battle with lung cancer. Bob was born May 13, 1930 in Kansas City, KS., to Henry F. and Myrtle Eunice (Templeton) Goodrick. He attended Northeast High School. As a young man Bob held a variety of jobs including "grease monkey" and automobile mechanic before joining Bendix Corp. as a lathe operator. Bob quickly advanced in his career at Bendix and graduated from the tool and die maker apprenticeship in 1961. He later took over the program and supervised the training of Tool and Die Making Apprentices for 14 years. While working at Bendix, Bob also studied engineering at the University of Kansas. He attained the rank of engineer at Bendix in 1977. Bob worked at Bendix (later Allied-Signal Aerospace) for 40 years, retiring in 1991. He also served in the Marine Corps as a demolitions expert during the Korean Conflict (1951-53) and was honorably discharged at the rank of corporal. Bob enjoyed coaching baseball and softball, antique collecting, and woodworking. His precision engineering skills carried through to his home, where he worked on a variety of projects during his retirement. Bob's ornery sense of humor and big smile will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
