Robert G. "Bob" Jones, Jr. A.I.A., 62, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church. A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Harvesters or City Union Mission.
Bob was born Sept. 25, 1949 in Kansas City, KS to Robert G. and Betty Jones. Bob graduated from Bishop Miege High School in 1967 and has a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Kansas State Univ. He began his career with Boyle & Wilson Architects, became director of Architecture for AMC Theaters. Subsequently, he was an Architect for the Hollis + Miller Group. For the past nine years, he served as the Manager of Construction for the Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. Bob's greatest joy was building new churches and working with parish communities. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Carole M. Jones; a son, Rayan Michael Derakhshandegan; grandson, Ryan Michael Stinson; a sister, Loretta A. Green; a niece,
Stephanie Leigh Thibeault; and one great nephew and two great nieces.
