Robert Matthew Bettendorf, age 75 of Garnett, Kansas passed away September 29th, 2010 at the home from a long, courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 4th at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 71st and Metcalf in Overland Park, Kansas. Burial is at Resurrection Cemetery, 85th & Quivira in Lenexa, Kansas. Visitation is between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 3rd at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf in Overland Park, Kansas.
Mr. Bettendorf was born May 14th, 1935 in Jackson, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lula Elizabeth, and father, Bernard John Bettendorf. He is survived by his wife Marcia Ann (Eastes), daughters Tamra Bridgeman and Tina Thompson, sons Robert and Russell Bettendorf, sisters Joyce Lee and Dian Wellman, and brother Gerald Bettendorf. He also was a grandfather to Jeremy and Tyler Bridgeman, Padyn, Josh, Kaitlynn, Frank, Alora and Samantha Bettendorf. He was a great-grandfather to Tayler Cheyenne, Aiden James, and soon to be born Charlotte Bridgeman.
