Richard Weeks

July 5, 1941 — August 6, 2021

Linn Valley, Kansas

Richard "Barry" Weeks, 80, of Linn Valley, KS passed peacefully in his home with family by his side on August 6, 2021. Barry was a lifelong resident of Kansas City and the son of Richard (Dick) Keith Weeks and Mary Virginia Weeks. He graduated from Wentworth Military Academy and met his future wife Nancy Lee Coleman while on vacation in Noel, MO. One of their favorite memories was pulling off the road and dancing to some of their favorite tunes. Barry and Nancy were married 59 years and raised 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Barry enjoyed a lifelong career as a commercial construction superintendent.  Following the steps of his father, he began his career as a carpenter with Weeks Construction Company. He was well respected and proud of the many schools, churches, banks, office buildings and fire stations he built across the Kansas City area. Many of those projects are his legacy and mark he leaves from his life’s work for the city he loved. Barry is survived by his wife Nancy Weeks, children Loren Weeks of Blue Springs, MO, Julie Weeks of Linn Valley, KS, Kurt Weeks of Olathe, KS. Grandchildren Shandal Loomis (Devin) of Greenwood, MO, Lacie Overman of Frisco, CO, Connor Overman, Overland Park, KS, Hayden Weeks, Blue Springs, MO, Gavin Weeks, Blue Springs, MO and two great grandchildren Deagen Loomis, Greenwood, MO and Dailyn Loomis, Greenwood, MO. Barry was preceded in death by his son Richard Todd Weeks.
