Richard B. Vinsonhaler, 93, of Lenexa, KS passed away November 30, 2014 at Delmar Gardens. His funeral service will be 10:00am, Thursday, December 4th with visitation starting at 9:30am at Overland Park Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Overland Park Church of the Nazarene, 9030 Lamar Ave, Overland Park, KS 66207 or Gentiva Hospice, 8735 Rosehill Road, STE 200, Lenexa, KS 66215. Richard was born May 31st, 1921 in Garden City, KS, but grew up in Winfield, KS. He was the youngest of four children. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and made a career from 1942 – 1962. After being released from the U.S. Navy, he went to work with Social Security Administration and retired after 30 years. It was there, where he met Thelma. They were married December 31, 1972. Richard was a HUGE sports fan! A few of his favorite teams were the Minnesota Twins, Washington Redskins and the San Diego Chargers. He also loved traveling via car and cruises- in fact, He and Thelma were able to visit all 50 States and their State Capitol Building. He has been a member of the Overland Park Church of the Nazarene Church since 1977 and enjoyed attending the Fellowship Class. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife of the home, Thelma; son-in-law, Mark Hotle; 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 2 nieces.
