Richard W. Parker, born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 3, 1954, died in a tragic accident on February 16, 2011 in Naples, Florida. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalee Elizabeth Parker. He is survived by his father, Robert Reid Parker of Naples, Florida and Prairie Village, Kansas; his three children, Robert Richard Parker of Denver, Colorado, Charles Andrew Parker of Golden, Colorado and Elizabeth Marie Parker of Ft. Collins, Colorado; his two brothers, Robert Warren Parker (Ann) of San Antonio, Texas, and Bruce Donald Parker (Sandra) of Coral Gables, Florida; and his former spouse, Mrs. Bonnie Andrews of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Rick was an accomplished gymnast at Shawnee Mission East High School. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Business Administration in 1977 and from Washburn University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in 1980. He practiced law in Kansas City until 1999. He moved to Naples, Florida where he served as the chief financial officer of a transportation company. Rick enjoyed the Naples lifestyle. He was an avid baseball and football fan. In the last year of his life he was the primary caregiver for his parents and continued caring for his father in Naples after his mother’s death. Rick loved people. He was a kind and caring man. His last act of kindness was that of designating himself as an organ donor. At least four others are given a new life because of his organ donation. He leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Rick will be missed by his family and many friends every day. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Richard W. Parker to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Naples at 3560 Kraft Rd. Suite 301, Naples, Florida 34105. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 25 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at Prairie Baptist Church, 7416 Roe Avenue, Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Burial will follow immediately at Pleasant Hill, Missouri cemetery.
