Richard Meier Minteer was born November 18, 1926, the son of Paul A. and Mildred Meier Minteer. He was called home to be with the Lord January 30, 2015.
After attending Southwest High School he graduated from Pembroke Country Day High School. In World War II he was in the U.S. Navy in Okinawa. Dick joined the Sigma Chi fraternity at the University of Missouri where he graduated in 1950 with a B.S. degree in Agriculture. In 1949 he married Helen Elma Griffith. They were married 65 years. Dick joined the Campbell Sales Company in 1950 and retired in 1988 as Account Manager in the West Central Food Service Products District.
Dick was a member of the Colonial United Church of Christ in Prairie Village, Kansas, and Orient Lodge #51, Topeka, Kansas. He was a member of the Two Man Seniors and the Senior Golf Association.
Dick was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Minteer and his grandson, Nathan Schall. He is survived by his wife Helen, daughters Nancy Schall (David), Overland Park, Ks and Susan Schloerb (Richard) Des Moines, Iowa, daughter-in-law, Susan H. Minteer Hovel (Lee), granddaughters, Lisa Bender (David) and Laura Wakefield (Daniel), grandsons Michael Schall (Sabrina), Dan Schall, Mark Schall, Ryan Schloerb, (Emily)and Dillon Schloerb. Surviving greatgrandchildren are Madison, Cameron and Brooke Bender, Ashlyn and Gavin Wakefield, Keaton and Savannah Schall and Lucas Schloerb.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. February 3, 2015, at the Colonial Church, 7039 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
