Dick was born March 24, 1928, in Omaha, NE. He served in the Pacific with the Navy in WWII. He was employed by several national meat packers before becoming a meat grader with the US Department of Agriculture in 1951. Following grading assignments in Memphis and Philadelphia, he held supervisory positions in Los Angeles and Washington, DC. Dick was later assigned as head supervisor of the Kansas City district, which covered grading activities throughout nine Midwestern states. Mr. Theobald retired with 32 years government service in 1983.
Following his retirement, Dick was employed part-time for eight years as a sales merchandiser for Kimberly-Clark paper products. In later years, he was a meals-on-wheels driver and a volunteer at the 1950s electrical house at the Johnson County Historical Museum. In his ?spare time?, Dick fished, traveled, toured the country in a series of increasingly fancy recreational vehicles, and float-boated on several Missouri and Kansas lakes.
In 2001, Dick became a volunteer at the Overland Park Police Department. He received the OPPD volunteer of the year award in 2003.
Dick is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris, of Overland Park, and his son, Dan, San Francisco, CA.
