Rebecca French

Rebecca Farmer French, 62, of Mission Hills, Kansas passed away Monday, October 13, 2008. Becky was born to Richard and Jane Farmer December 20, 1945. She spent all her life in Kansas City. She graduated from UMKC in 1966. She opened, owned and operated the first ?boutique? on the plaza ? Becky Farmers Ryan Piccadilly. Later she married Craig French, her husband of 38 years, had two children, Pat and Ryan. After several years, Becky again took to the business world. This included a brief real estate career, a number of years with Paine Webber where she managed the tax shelter department and later, with the death of her brother Abraham and her parents, she learned and successfully ran R.W. Farmer Construction, RFF Development, CNB Construction, and The Independence Mobile Home Park. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and business person and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was generous to a fault and did countless things for those in need.
She is survived by her husband, Craig; her son Pat French; her daughter, Ryan and her husband, Matt Monroe, and three grandchildren, Katherine, Molly, and Matthew. Also surviving her are brother, Matthew Farmer and his three children, Mattie, Mitch, and Mindy.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 17 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66204. Burial in Corinth Cemetery, Prairie Village, KS. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6700 Antioch, Ste. 100, Merriam, KS 66204.
