Mr. Raymond Lutjen

Raymond Lutjen, 94, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008. Private interment services Resthaven Cemetery Indoor Mausoleum, West Des Moines, IA. Memorial services 11:00 am Friday, January 2, 2009 at Atonement Lutheran Church, 9948 Metcalf. Overland Park, KS 66212. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired, 3101 Main St., Kansas City, MO 64111 or Atonement Lutheran Church-Capitol Fund.

Raymond was born October 5, 1914 in Boone, IA. At the time of his retirement, he was Chief Financial Officer for Pioneer Hybrid International in Des Moines. He was President and on the Board of Directors of The National Association of Accountants; Chairman of the Board of the Iowa Lutheran Hospital and President of Polk County Taxpayers Association. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church, both in Des Moines and Atonement Lutheran Church in Overland Park.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Velda Lutjen and two brothers, Ken and Lester. Survivors include his three daughters and son-in-laws, Sharon and Bob Winders, Kay and Ken Patterson and Jan and Tom Kreamer; grandchildren and spouses, Susan Winders and Blake VanEmst, Clay Blair IV, Beth and Mike Lechner, and Tom and Stephanie Kreamer; four great-grandchildren, Anna and Abby Kreamer and Connor and Carson VanEmst; and a sister, Margaret. He is also survived by his close friend, Marj Puckett.
