Peggy S. McLaughlin, 85, of Leawood, KS passed away peacefully at her home on February 8, 2008. She is survived by Robert M. McLaughlin, husband of 65 years; son, Robert M. McLaughlin, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Barbara J. McLaughlin. A gathering of friends will be Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Robert McLaughlin Jr.'s residence. Cremation.
Peggy was born in Adrian, MO to Frona and Don Stith on January 12, 1923. After moving to Kansas City she attended and graduated from Southwest High School in 1940. She met Bob McLaughlin during her time at Southwest and after his training with the Army Air Corp to be a bomber pilot, they decided to marry before he shipped off to Italy on January 1, 1943. She worked for a time at RB Jones Insurance, but after a time in the 1950's, remaining home and raising their son, she started working for Anderson 's Bookshop in the early 1960's and remained with them until her retirement in 1982. She loved bowling and playing cards with the girls and her travels with Bob and those delightful parties they threw at their home. She was a member of the Leawood Presbyterian Church, a member of the Young Matrons, and Elks Club of Kansas City.
We wish to express much gratitude and thanks to her dedicated and wonderful caregivers, Winnie Wamae and Brenda Green, who were with her at home the past 10 months and to Kansas City Regional Hospice for their attentive care.
