Paul Edward Wolters, 77, of Westwood, KS, went to his eternal home on November 21, 2010. He was born to the Reverend Herman and Anna Wolters (nee Wiebusch) on September 23, 1933. Paul was baptized and confirmed by his father. In 1951, Paul graduated from St. Ansgar High School in St. Ansgar, Iowa. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served for four years as an aerographer’s mate before being honorably discharged. Following his years of service, he attended St. Paul’s College in Concordia, Missouri, and after graduating from Concordia Teacher’s College in Seward, Nebraska, Paul began his teaching career at Zion Lutheran School in Ferguson, Missouri in 1961. Paul was then called to Our Saviour Lutheran School in Kansas City, Kansas, and he served as principal and teacher of seventh and eighth grades from 1965-1974. Paul received a Master’s Degree in social studies and in education from Central Missouri University in Warrensburg, Missouri, where he also obtained a Specialist Degree in educational administration. Later, he attended post-graduate courses at the University of Kansas. Paul taught math and social studies at the middle school level and served as vice-principal in the Kansas City Missouri School District until his retirement in 2005. Paul’s interests and hobbies included reading, golfing and spending quality time at the lake and with his family of blood and heart. He was preceded in death by both his parents; brothers Donald, John and Carl; sisters Shirley Fredrickson and Ruth Toney and nephew, Bruce Toney. Paul is survived by his wife of fifty years, Edith Marie (Wehmeyer), his daughter Rebecca Lynn Rule and husband Richard, daughter Nancy Jane Knudsen and husband Michael, and grandchildren: Spencer Waldemar Knudsen, Eleanor Grace Knudsen, Paul Wolters Knudsen, and by his sister Ann Wolters. On November 21st, Paul lay down for a nap on Bald Head Island, North Carolina, and woke up in heaven. Visitation will be held Friday, November 26th, from 6-8 pm at the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour (OSL), 4153 Rainbow Boulevard, Kansas City, KS. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 27th at OSL. A private family interment will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Rosebud, Missouri.
