Paul Foster Hunt, Jr., 73, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2008. He was a life-long resident of Kansas City. Paul was well-known for his quick wit and his incredible ability to tell stories. His humor was legendary. Paul adored his dog George, with whom he walked daily. He was an extraordinary athlete, a fine friend and loving husband. He won numerous awards and held many track records. He is the Missouri State record holder in the indoor 60 yard dash, with a record time of 6.5 seconds, which he will hold in perpetuity, as the event no longer takes place. He was the recipient of the Nigro Award (now known as the Simone Award) in 1952. More recently Paul won the age 60 and older 100 yard dash at the Kansas City Corporate Challenge Race three years in a row. When Paul was attending Pembroke Country Day School (Pembroke Hill) he was a star running back. In 1951 while at Pem Day, Paul scored more points in football than anyone in the Kansas City metropolitan area, with 129 points, 21 touchdowns, and rushed 1,208 yards. As a track star at the University of Kansas he ran against three of the world?s top record holders. Paul loved sports, was an avid golfer and had an amazing knowledge of sports facts. He was a graduate of Pembroke Country Day School, the University of Kansas, with degrees in Chemistry and English, and Northwestern University School of Law. Upon graduation he served in the military. He spent his career in banking and as a stock broker. He was past vice president of the Research Hospital Foundation Board and a member of the Pembroke Country Day School Board of Directors. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Paul Foster Hunt; his sister, Claudette and stepdaughter, Laura Eshan. He leaves his wife, Marsha; stepdaughter, Amy Sails, two step granddaughters, Candace and Emmalee; great-grandson, Robert, and three first cousins, Geraldine Gaughan, Dr. Robert Hunt and Dr. Thomas Hunt, as well as numerous grandnieces and nephews; and special cousin, Alexandria Stafford. The family requests no flowers and suggests donations to the Paul F. Hunt, Jr. Cancer Research Fund at the University of Kansas Endowment Association, the KU Medical Center, 3901 Rainbow Boulevard, Kansas City, KS 66160. Visitation will be 5-7:00 P.M. Friday, May 9, at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, May 10, at St. Andrew?s Episcopal Church, 6401 Wornall Terrace, Kansas City, Missouri. Friends are welcome prior to and after the service to visit with the family in the Jewel Room at the Church.
