Dr. Paul E. Hermans, 83, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. July 30th at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS.
Paul was born October 17, 1927 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands to Paul J. and Anna Elisabeth Hermans. He graduated from UMC Utrecht medical school. Paul met Jeannette Goddijn in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. They both immigrated to the United States in 1954, and were later married in Kansas City on October 29, 1954. Paul worked for Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Kansas City and then began his distinguished career with the Mayo Clinic in 1959 where he retired after 32 years of practice. He continued to live in Rochester until early 2009 and then moved to the Kansas City area. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Else. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jeannette Goddijn - Hermans; three children: Albert, Yvonne, and John Hermans; three grandchildren: Connor, Olivia, and Rosemary; and a niece, Isabelle.
