Patricia Templeman

August 21, 1935 — May 23, 2010

Patricia Louise Templeman quietly departed this life on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at her home, in Overland Park, KS, surrounded by her children and family members. Pat was born in Alba, MO on August 21, 1935. Her father was Silas Hamilton Sanders, and her mother Fronie Adeline Wooten, both now deceased. Pat leaves a brother, Robert D. Sanders and his wife Grace, of Carthage, MO. Pat married her high school sweetheart Art Templeman of Carthage, MO on August 3, 1952. Art preceded Pat in death on May 16, 1999. Together they enjoyed 42 years of marriage, and had two sons, Steve Templeman of Carthage, MO, and Jon Templeman of Overland Park, KS. Pat was blessed with four grandchildren, Scott Templeman, Carthage, MO, Trisha Templeman-Morgan of West Palm Beach, FL, Brock and Carly Templeman also of Overland Park, KS. She had six great-grandchildren, Silas, Max and Millie Templeman of Carthage, MO and Makaila, Mia and McKenzie Morgan of West Palm Beach, FL.

Pat was a talented interior decorator and enjoyed turning houses into beautiful homes. She was often sought out for her artistic gifting both by those in commercial and in residential construction. Pat loved traveling and the outdoors, particularly her Florida winter home and the mountains of Colorado where she and her husband Art often frequented. She loved fishing, and always enjoyed those family fishing times spent together either at her home at the Lake of the Ozarks or on the Fall River in Estes Park, Colorado.

Pat was an active member of the former Johnson County Christian Church, now Legacy Christian Church in Overland Park, KS for more than forty years. She suffered a massive brain stem stroke in 2005, when she became physically debilitated, yet Pat still managed to attend services on occasion. Though Pat was small in stature, those who knew her best would say that was just a disguise…she was a strong and determined woman who often amazed doctors and those in the medical community with her stamina and old-fashioned true grit. She leaves behind nothing but a legacy of excellence in her life’s example to those who knew and loved her dearly. While Pat may be absent in her physical presence, she lives on in the hearts and minds of all of those she loved so well.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 27 at the D.W. Newcomer’s Overland Park Chapel with a visitation prior from 9:30-10:30 a.m.; burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
