Patty was born December 21, 1930 in Kansas City, KS to Howard Paul and Marie Josephine Root. She attended St. Agnes High School. Patty married her childhood sweetheart, Robert B. Rupe, on Valentine’s Day 1949, he preceded her in death in 1982. Patty later married Keith Halbeisen, he preceded her death. She had achieved 32 years of sobriety, by the grace of God, through the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, and was a source and inspiration to many. Patty had a strong faith and was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. For two generations, Patty was a tremendous role model for a family consisting of all girls—four daughters and ten granddaughters. She has been blessed with 9 great grandchildren—four boys and five girls. Survivors include her four daughters: Gayle (Kent) Best, Sherry (Skip) Hensler, Pam (Greg) Farrell, and Suzie (Louis) Swyden; a sister, Doris Larson; brother, Bill Root; grandchildren: Greta Gleissner, Natalie (Bryan) Upp, Meredith (Jeremiah) Woodring, Elizabeth (Jeff) Connell, Jill (Nick) Preston, Kellie (Mitch) Muse, Kimberly Scott, Katie (Justin) Myers, Jacqlyn Swyden, and Aly Swyden; and her special cousin, Sally McKessor.
All who knew her will miss her wisdom, sense of humor, and guidance.
