Steve loved spending time in the mountains. He was an instructor at Aschcroft Mountaineering School outside of Aspen, CO from 1969-1971, and he also was a ski instructor at Aspen Highlands for two winters. Steve loved vacationing with his family at their home in Breckenridge, CO.
Steve was a member of The Kansas City Country Club and Second Presbyterian Church. He was the proud founder of the First Watch Breakfast Club (and it's sole financial supporter!). Steve had many close friends, colleagues, and a demanding career, but he was never too busy for his family. Steve fell in love with his soulmate at the age of 16, and was a wonderful and loving husband for 37 years. The ultimate joy of Steve's life were his children, and he was a devoted and exceptional father.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Steve's wonderful nurses that cared for him during his battle with cancer. The family would also like to thank the selfless support from their friends during this battle. The gifts and food delivered through the weeks provided the ability to radiate the strength, positivity, and hope needed, not only to build up Steve, but also each other.
Everything Steve did in his life he did for his family, and through his example, we will continue to love, encourage and support each other, keeping his memory alive.
Steve is survived by his wife, Georgeanne Orr Harris; his three sisters, Janet Warren, Debbie Schell, and Laura Marvel; his children, Welsh Harris, Michelle and husband Rustin Ingram, Richie Harris, and Judy Dickey; his granddaughter Ashtyn Ingram.
