Oscar Phillip Loevenguth, Jr., 80, Overland Park, KS, died on January 22, 2010, at home. A memorial service will be at 3pm Saturday, January 30, at the Country Club Christian Church, Kansas City, Mo. Cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, the Nelson-Atkins Museum or a charity of choice.
Mr. Loevenguth was born July 23, 1929, in Wichita, KS, and had lived in this area for 55 years. He had a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas and did marriage counseling early on and then fund raising for the United Way before becoming an Insurance Agent & Financial Planner. He was a Life Elder at Country Club Christian Church and had served in many capacities including Chairman of the Board. He had an incredible love of music that started at an early age and he was in both choirs and bands up until he retired from playing music in the late '50's. He served in the military from 1953 to 1955 and spent most of his service in a band playing at military bases all over Europe. He had a passion for photography that was endless, enjoyed traveling and devoted time volunteering for charitable organizations.Survivors include a son, Andrew Loevenguth, New York, NY; a daughter, Alison L. Petralia, Portland, OR; two grandchildren; and a sister, Harriet Becker, Fairfax, VA. Arrangements by: D.W.
