Opal Wiles

Opal Charlene Wiles of Overland Park, KS, passed away October 6, 2014. She was born in Kansas City, MO, on Oct. 12, 1931, and was the only child of JT and Opal Wiles. She spent her childhood in Kansas City, MO, and after graduation from Southwest High School moved with her parents to Spring Hill, KS.
Char worked as a church secretary for 31 years which included 16 years at Cherokee Christian Church and 11 years at Country Club Christian Church. Christian education was her love and focus in much of her life, and she enjoyed teaching children and youth for over 55 years.
For 50 years Char was an active member of RE Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha and was a member of Cherokee Christian Church and most recently had united with Overland Park Christian Church.
Char volunteered with Interfaith Hospitality Network and was a tutor with the Johnson County Adult Education ESL program since 2003. She is survived by a host of loving friends and several cousins.
Memorial services will be at Overland Park Christian Church, 7600 W. 75th St., at 2:00 PM on October 9. Memorial gifts to Children’s Ministries of OPCC may be given in lieu of flowers. Please offer condolences at www.overlandparkchapel.com.
