Opal Irene Paine, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 17, 2010, in Plattsburg, Mo. She was the oldest of 11 children born to George and Elizabeth Utter. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the D.W. Newcomer's Overland Park Chapel with a visitation prior from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.; burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Michael David Butler and Matthew L. Butler, an infant brother, and two sisters, Ruth Scheuler and Dorothy Nixon. She also outlived three husbands, Ben Butler, Forrest Laughlin and William Paine. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Cassity (Bernie), granddaughters, Shaune Kingsolver (Jayson) and Dawn Peterson (Troy), grandsons, Kevin and Greg Cassity, Dawn Marie Huff (Rich), 11 great grandchildren, and four sisters, Mary Brand, Ann Lynch, Sue Blomquist and Ginger Scott; three brothers, Richard, John, and Arthur Utter, as well as many nieces and nephews. Irene retired from KU Medical Center in 1994. She moved to Plattsburg from Kansas City, Kan., in 2002. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Plattsburg.
