Oleta Coline Lofland went to her heavenly home early in the morning on June 7. She was born in 1915 and raised in Olathe, Kan. Teaching was her gift, and she was at Hickory Grove Elementary School before she married her predeceased husband of over 50 years, Maynard. They lived in Westwood and Overland Park. After receiving her B.S. and master’s degrees in the 1950s from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, she returned to teaching for 10 years at Corinth Elementary School.
Coline is survived by her children Sandra Thomas of Tulsa, Okla., and Jack Lofland of Eden Prairie, M.N.; grandchildren Brian and Jeff Thomas of Tulsa and Jodi Wade of LaCygne, Kan., and great grandchildren Jacob, Harley, Eli and Addison. Family was always her priority, and her church, where she was a charter member, loyal supporter and active in UMW. Her last three years were spent in Tulsa, Okla.
Funeral services will be held at the Old Mission United Methodist Church Chapel, 5519 State Park Road, on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Old Mission Methodist Foundation or the donor’s choice of charity.
