OCTAVIA MCCONICO
Proverbs 31 – (v. 10, 25 - 30) - “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.”; “Strength and honor are her clothing ...”; “She openeth her mouth with wisdom ...”; “She looketh well to the ways of her household ...”; “Her children rise up, and call her blessed ...”; “Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.” Finally, and most importantly, “Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” For those who did not know our Beloved Mother, Octavia McConico, these passages clearly and concisely define and describe our Beloved Mother, Octavia McConico.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 24, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., with viewing commencing at 9:00 a.m. at Bonner Springs Grace Temple, 641 West Morse, Bonner Springs, KS 66012; interment in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, 23215 W. 75th St., Shawnee, KS 66227.

Mother Octavia McConico's sunrise was March 11, 1924 in Forrest City, Arkansas to the parents of Jack Berry and Viola Moore. Her sunset was September 17, 2010, while being lovingly attended by and at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Pastor Herman and Norma McConico in Bonner Springs, Kansas.

She was married to the late Pastor LeRoy McConico Sr., who preceded her in her home going on May 29, 2000. They were married for 57 years. Mother lived the relevant and significant portion of her life in Lincoln, NE and Bonner Springs, KS. Her employment history included working for the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, Economic Opportunity Foundation in Bonner Springs, KS, and owning and operating a restaurant establishment in the Kansas City, KS courthouse.

Mother Octavia, while not only working outside of the home and being a loving wife and exceptional mother, was a faithful member of Bonner Springs Grace Temple Church. She was the Mother of the Church and immensely enjoyed teaching the Word of God, mentoring and singing at the Church. She loved the Lord with all of her heart, soul, body, spirit and proudly confessed and maintained a dynamic and intensely personal relationship with her Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Nowhere was this dedication demonstrated more to her Lord and Savior and others than by her fierce commitment to her loving spouse through nurturing and caring for him in their home, against all odds and physician recommendations, until death parted them. We love her so very much for this total unselfish caring for our Beloved Father. What an extraordinary woman!
