Nellie May Epperson, 94, of Mission, Kansas passed away Monday, March 10, 2008. Funeral services will be 1:00PM on Thursday, March 13 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00PM, Thursday, at the chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Roeland Park United Methodist Church.
Nellie was born on March 6, 1914 in rural Bates County, MO to Dick and Hattie Griffith. She was the second child in a family of seven. On May 19, 1935, she married Odie Epperson. During WWII, she worked at Lake City Ammunition Plant and Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. Later, Nellie spent 35 years as manager for Leighter?s Dress Shop. She loved ballroom dancing and was the proud possessor of eight trophies, dancing with husband, Odie, in competitions affiliated with Walters Dance Studio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Odie Epperson; four brothers and one sister.
She is survived by one sister, Sue Shepherd; her loving friend, Russ Callahan and many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.
