MERTICE ROSE BROCKER
Mertice Rose “Pete” Brocker passed away on March 23, 2009 at Garden Terrace in Prairie Village, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 26 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer’s & Sons, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park Kansas. Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, March 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Newcomer’s & Sons. The Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park in St. Joseph, Missouri. Mertice was one of the most content women you will ever meet. She often told people “I’m so lucky.” She loved her home, her family, her neighbors and friends. She adored her husband Melvin and was certain she had married the best man on Earth. She saw beauty in everyday people and places. She was always quick with a hug. Most importantly, she was the keeper of our family history, carefully documenting all the moments of our lives in photos and handwritten words. Because of her, our memories of Christmas, camping trips, birthdays, graduations, and family parties on the back deck will not fade. She never went anywhere without a photo album in her pocketbook so she could brag to whoever would listen. And brag she did! She is survived by daughter Cindy Kelley, son Nick Brocker, brother Bill Rose; grandsons Zack Brocker, Chad Brocker, Seth Brocker, Trent Brocker, Kiefer Brocker, Ryan Kelley, Scott Kelley, Dane Jensen and Tanner Jensen; granddaughter Shannon Langner; three great grandchildren Lilli Brocker, Graham Langner and Noah Kelley; as well as a large extended family. Donations can be made in Mertice’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org. Fond memories and condolences for the family may be sent to www.overlandparkchapel.com. Arr: D.W.
