Retired Colonel Maynard C. Miller passed away September 28, 2009. He was a graduate of the University of Nebraska/Lincoln. He was Commissioned into the US Army in 1935 and married B. Jane Carr on the same day! He served in the Reserves until requesting active duty in early 1941. From 1941 until 8 days after the D Day invasion, he served in various training units in the US and Great Britain . Upon landing in France , he was part of Patton's 3rd Army until VE day in 1945. He later retired, going into business with his brother in Ada OK , only to be called back into service for the Korean War where he served as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of the 21st. Infantry Regiment. He also served at the Pentagon, Fort Ord , CA , Petersburg , VA ending his military career in 1967 at the US Embassy in Bangkok , Thailand . He retired again to Ada , OK to raise cattle and Christmas trees. In 1988, he and his wife moved to Kansas City , to be closer to family. He is survived by his only child, Joe and wife, Patricia; two daughters, Carren Miller and D'An Cockrell and husband Marcus; two great-grand children, Jack and Emily Jedlicka. His death marked the end of the greatest Generation in our family to date. From a small town in Nebraska to the Embassy in Thailand , it was a wonderful journey for "The Col and his Lady." Visitation will be Friday, October 9th, at D.W. Newcomer's & Sons located at 8201 Metcalf, OPKS from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Burial to be held at Mt.
