Mary "Stewty" Bailey

January 21, 1926 — March 26, 2016

Mary N. Bailey, 90, Lenexa, Kansas passed away March 26th, 2016. Stewty was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas.  She was an original member of the Little Rock Central High Filthy Five. Stewty had a passion for serving others. She spent many years working in mental health, and especially loved helping adolescents. She earned a BSW from Avila at age 52. Stewty had a wicked sense of humor, loved winning at cribbage, and spending time in her gardens. She had an incredible number of friends who loved her dearly. Anyone who met Stewty never forgot her. She was preceded in death by husband George, daughter Debbie, and brother Albert. She leaves behind a son, Michael, daughter Missy (Jim) Sullivan, and five grandchildren; Jack, Nick, and Hannah Bailey, and Michael, and Annie Sullivan. The family expresses deep gratitude for the loving care and attention from the staff at Lakeview Assisted Living, and from dear friend David for all their support the past three years. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Cross-Lines, 736 Shawnee Ave Kansas City, KS 66105 or a charity of your choice. Please offer condolences at www.overlandparkchapel.com. A memorial service will be held May 14th, at 1pm at Lakeview Village in the Heritage Community Room, 9100 Park Ave Lenexa, Kansas 66215. Reception following.
