On Monday, February 28, 2022, Maryrose L. Larsen of Westchester Village of Lenexa, passed peacefully to Heaven at the amazing age of 100 years and 7 months. Maryrose was born July 23, 1921 in Enid, Oklahoma to Allie L. (Tingley) and Walter S. Strange, Sr. She lived in Enid, OK; Winfield and Wichita, KS; eventually moving to Leawood, KS where for over fifty years she enjoyed being a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, friend and prayer partner to many.
Mary was quite active at Hillcrest Covenant Church of Prairie Village, KS. Maryrose and her late husband William were charter members since 1960. She served the church in many ways, including prayer ministry, missions, Bible school and many other church activities. She found great joy in helping others at church and in the community. Mary and her late husband Bill were very active with the Lighthouse Home for Unwed Mothers, the Christian Medical and Dental Society, American Cancer Society and many other organizations. Mary also enjoyed spending time with family relaxing at the lake, reading, cooking, playing the piano and gardening in her yard.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Allie and Walter S. Strange, Sr.; her brother, Walter S. Strange, Jr.; her sister, Vera Mae (Strange) Stevens; and her husband, William E. Larsen, MD.
Mary is survived by her three children, Peter (Patty) of Powell, OH, Jon of Chisago City, MN, Jan Heidenreich of Jacksonville, FL.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
