Mary Alice Roach of Raymore, MO passed away Thursday, May 3, 2007. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 7th at the Raymore Christian Church, 500 Peace Drive (Highway 58 at Peace Drive), Raymore, MO. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Private graveside service in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Foxwood Springs Fellowship of John, Country Club Christian Church, Grace Hospice, or Raymore Christian Church.
Mary Alice was born in Kansas City, MO to Harriett Campbell and D.Y. Donaldson. Her father was a minister and at one time served as Associate Minister of Independence Boulevard Christian Church as well as South Broadway Christian in Denver. When she was seven her father received appointment from Washington as a Federal Prohibition Director to Puerto Rico where she attended 3rd grade. Upon returning after his appointment was up they settled in Enid, OK where she finished her schooling. She graduated from Phillips University in Enid where she met and then married LaMonte Roach. LaMonte?s job with World Book Encyclopedia brought them back to Kansas City where they were active members of Independence Boulevard Christian Church. She worked at the What So Ever Community House. They later joined Country Club Christian Church where she served as a deacon and taught Sunday school for 20 years. They retired and lived in Tucson, AZ for 15 years. When they returned they moved to Foxwood Springs Retirement Community in Raymore, MO. She was a member of Raymore Christian Church, PEO, and Indian Hills Country Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, LaMonte; two sisters, one brother and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Sue Dyer and her husband Dean; her son, LaMonte Jr. and his wife Jan; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her children were her joy as were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made friends wherever she was and cherished many long time friendships. Her loving, caring spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
