MARY ELIZABETH BRENNAN
Mary Elizabeth Brennan died Friday, January 7, 2011. While her passing was peaceful, the sudden, aggressive attack of metastasized cancer leaves shocked and saddened all that loved her. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence J. Brennan, brother John W. Strong, sister-in-law Marty Strong, daughter Laura E. Brennan, son-in-law John Rooney, granddaughters Ann E. and Sarah C. Rooney, son Mark W. Brennan, daughter-in-law Pattie Shostak, granddaughters Skylar S., Riley P. and Gillian A. Brennan, nephews Frank R. and Benjamin W. Strong. Mary Elizabeth was born June 5, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio to Frank R. and Gertrude Elizabeth Way Strong. She attended Stephens College and the University of Kansas, earning a bachelor’s degree in education. Among many pursuits, she enjoyed participating in Alpha Delta Pi, AAUW, PEO, and craft and bridge groups. Her primary devotion was making a home for her husband, children, and grandchildren with wonderful cooking and presentation, décor, gifts, and thoughtfulness. Her warm, generous touch will be missed greatly. Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 6630 Nall Ave, Mission, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Animal Haven, Ronald McDonald House, or the Gertrude Way Strong Children’s Library at the University of Kansas, School of Education.
