Mrs. Mary Amoury
May 3, 1937 — November 20, 2008
Mary Frances Amoury, daughter of Joseph and Mary Byrne, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 20th at her home in Leawood, KS after a long illness. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11:00 am Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 7231 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, KS 66208 followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
Born in New York City on May 3rd, 1937, Mary graduated from Aquinas Hall High School in the Bronx in 1955. On September 21st, 1957 she married Raymond Amoury of Staten Island, New York. Mary, Ray and their five children moved to the Kansas City area in 1968.
Mary loved animals, was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with her husband over the years. She was a devoted mother and loving wife who dedicated her life to her family. Mary will be remembered, by those who knew her well, as a loyal friend who possessed a wonderful sense of humor and to all as a trustworthy confidante to those who sought her guidance and comfort.
Mary was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Church in Prairie Village, KS. She is survived by her husband, daughters Mary, Anne, and Jane, as well as her son Jerry. Mary is also survived by her grandchildren Ahmed and Mohamed Benarous, Michael Amoury and Lauren, Audrey, and Juliana Winters. She is preceded in death by her son Peter and grandson Joseph.
