Marvin Pottratz

Marvin (Marv) M. Pottratz, age 86, Merriam, Kansas passed away Sunday, June 24, 2007 at home. Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 29, at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, Shawnee, Kansas. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Thursday, June 28 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf. Mr. Pottratz was born March 19, 1921 in New Albin, Iowa. He was a family man and generous, who loved boating and lakelife at the Lake of the Ozarks until a few years ago. He had his own real estate business since the early sixties. For many years, he served in the Coast Guard Reserves, assisting in activities at the Ozarks and attended monthly meetings. He also was very active with the American Legion Post 370. He loved KU Basketball and followed the KC Royals win or lose. He was preceded in death by wife, Lorraine Pottratz in 1996. He is survived by daughter, Jackie Brizendine, son-in-law, Herb Brizendine; son, Ed Pottratz; sisters, Melitta Roeder and Marion Alexander; grandson, Tony Cucar and wife Kathy Cucar; great grandson, Austin Cucar
