Margaret Dollard

Margaret Elizabeth Dollard, age 93, of Prairie Village, KS passed gently from this life on February 14, 2009. She waited until Valentine’s Day, which perfectly fit her, as it is a day of hearts and love.
Margaret was born September 6, 1915 in Lorain, Ohio, and had four brothers and a sister, all of whom she has now joined. Jess Carl Dollard, her devoted husband of 49-1/2 years also preceded her in 1994. How fitting she would join him on Valentine’s Day. She leaves behind family and friends, who will smile in her memory … especially her daughter, Peggy Carol Dollard, of Kansas City, Missouri; David Allen, who made sure she never ran out of the chocolates she loved; Susan Funk, our devoted friend who supported us throughout and played bagpipes at her bedside. Also Pastor Jennifer Thomas, who came at all hours of the day and night, in times of crisis and times of calm, and provided spiritual nourishment. Margaret leaves six nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 21st, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1700 Westport Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church prior to the service. Private graveside services will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Memorial gifts may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1700 Westport Road, Kansas City, MO; or to the American Heart Association, 6800 W. 93rd St., Overland Park, KS 66212. Please designate to the “Go Red” campaign which specifically supports women’s heart health.
Margaret will be remembered in many ways, in addition to her cute little smile, her indomitable spirit, and her hot pink tennis shoes.
