Opal Mae Northcott, 92, of Overland Park, went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2013. She passed away at Sunrise senior Living in Lenexa, KS. Opal was born on June 9, 1920 in Kansas City, MO. She was an active member of Nall Ave. Baptist Church until the onset of her illness.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harris Maupin, who was killed in Italy during WWII in 1944, her second husband of 52 years, Charles A. Northcott, passed away in 1997. She is survived by two sons, Harris Gary Northcott and Charles R. Northcott, wife Kaye, five grandchildren, three nephews Wilbert Dill, wife Lois, Charles Johnson, wife Jerilyn, and Ralph Dill, wife Robin, and nieces, Barbara white and Peggy Todd. She is also survived by many other wonderful relatives and friends.
A special note of love and thanks goes to her favorite cousin, Jeannette Shockey and best friend, Tony Ross, for their vigilance and concern.
Opal was employed for 25 years by Sears Roebuck and Company as Credit Manager and Office Manager. She retired in 1982.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 6th, 12-1 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel. Interment will follow at D.W.
